2 Big "Disappointing" Names You Still Want in 2018

March 19, 2018 at 1:23 pm

Seems like forever ago that some of our favorite fantasy super stars from 2014, 15 or even 16 have had any fantasy relevancy. Names die fast with an everchanging prospect list emerging from the minors. Here are 2 high floor high ceiling vets who were top guys a few years ago, crashed for a year (or two), but could be ready for a bounce back year.

1) Hanley Ramirez: Ramirez is ranked #328 overall and #201 hitter according to fantasy pros. New Red Sox Manager, Alex Cora has publicly addressed him as an expected “go-to” middle of the lineup guy who can still go 30-30. Between OF, 1B, and DH, there is no risk of ABs diminishing YoY. Still hitting 53 HR over the past 2 seasons in Boston, he can benefit from a fully stacked lineup. Safe late round high floor stash when adding depth to your 2018 squad.

2) Matt Harvey: Will the Dark Knight return? Harvey will be a UFA after the 2018 season which means only one thing. Pay day. Money talks, and that will be represented on the field. The Mets addressed their offensive issues with the signing of Bruce, and Frazier (and co.) and assuming he stays healthy (common problem for many), he can return to the top 25 SP conversation. The past 2 years have been horrendous for Harvey, but he has proven what he is capable of. Ranked as the #79 SP from fantasy pros, enjoy a late round stash with one of the highest potential ceilings.

Both Ramirez and Harvey are low risk high reward options. With such low ADPs they are definitely worth the risk this fantasy season.

Maybe Harvey cause you always need pitching depth, but Ramirez is another story.

I spent a buck as my last player on The Dark Knight. Gets cut for next big pickup if he bombs. Certainly worth the late gamble.
